Steven Anthony Wigent, an honorable Air Force Veteran, Allen County Sheriffs Deputy, husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 16th, 2026, of cancer at the age of 62.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steve met his wife of 31 years, Nancy Wigent, whom preceded him in death.

Steve is survived by his two daughters, Vanessa (Billy) Cornego and Natalie (Brock) Bohde. Steve is also survived by his parents, Gary and Jeannie (Demske) Wigent, and his two younger siblings, Dave Wigent and Cindy Wigent-Oyer.

Steve was a fun-loving, witty, and devoted person who prided himself on being the best family man and officer of his community. If Steve wasn’t at home with family, he was in his squad car pulling someone over. And if he wasn’t doing either of those, Steve enjoyed his model airplanes, Tom Clancy books, and a nice Mountain Dew.

Steve’s strength through his cancer journey was admirable, fighting to the very last breath. He will be deeply missed by many, and his legacy will continue for many years to come.

Private services will be held for the family and select invitees, followed by burial at Covington Memorial Gardens.
