Obituary

Steven Wade Wolford, age 70, of Florida, passed away unexpectedly on March 5th, 2025.

He was born on January 31, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was the son of the late James and Dorothylou Wolford.

After leaving Northside High School, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served actively for four years. After Steve was honorably discharged, he continued to show his commitment by serving in the Marine Reserves. This dedication and integrity would define much of his life. After his military service, he spent 33 years working for the United States Postal Service, where he made countless lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his coworkers and community.

In his spare time, Steve was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time at the lake. He found peace in the outdoors and nature. His love for these simple pleasures was shared with those closest to him. Steve also had a strong passion for mentoring fellow veterans. He found honor, dignity, and joy in assisting and navigating veterans by researching, compiling benefit portfolios, and sharing knowledge from personal experiences.

After retirement, Steve found joy relaxing in the comfort of their Florida home. You would often find him poolside reading or kicked back in his chair watching none other than the History Channel. The afternoons were often spent cruising through the bay on their tritoon, watching the dolphins, and taking in the beauty of Florida's wildlife. One of his greatest joys was driving through the parks, watching the wildlife—particularly one certain alligator and racoon who seemed to have a special place in Steve's heart! And, of course, there was nothing Steve loved more than a peaceful sunset at the beach, the perfect way to end the day.

Steve's family believes you could describe him as a strong man. For that is the one word that described him in multiple ways: his presence in the room, opinions, integrity, faith in God, but most importantly his commitment to his wife and children. Steve's physical presence may no longer be with us, but memories and life lessons will remain with all who were blessed to know him.

Steven Wade Wolford was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Steve's passing has left a void in our lives that will never be filled. His is now and will always be loved and missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Foy) Wolford; Daughter, Jennifer Wolford (Randy Tunks) Son, James (Crystal) Wolford; grandchildren, David, Keanu, and Caya Wolford. Brother Danny Wolford. Several nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
