Obituary

Thomas Francis Frappier, 89, of Ft. Wayne, passed away at home Aug. 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and is now at his heavenly home with his Savior Jesus Christ. Tom was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but grew up in Bryan, Ohio. He was the son of the late Francis and Dorothy Frappier. Tom graduated from Bryan High School in 1951. Prior to graduating he worked in the family-owned ice cream business. He started at Tri-State College (currently Trine University) but after two years volunteered for the U.S. Army. While at Ft. Lewis, Washington, as a tank commander, he met his wife of 66 years, Marilyn J. Frappier (Mick) who was finishing nursing school. Tom worked at Boeing in their metallurgy department until he and his wife moved to Indiana so he could complete his chemical engineering degree. In 1958, he started a 33-year career at Joslyn Stainless Steel (later Slater) in Ft. Wayne. At the time of his retirement in 1992, he was vice president of sales and marketing. Shortly thereafter, he worked for a metal distribution facility in the Cleveland area with an old army buddy. After this second retirement he and his wife returned to Ft. Wayne in 2001. He loved golfing, being involved in his church and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In fact, the grandbabies preferred his lap over many others. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; children, Jeffrey (Kay), Anne Hunt (Neil), Nancy Frappier (Julie), Mary Burch (Tom); siblings, Jon, Mark, and Patti Shaw; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jo and son, Steven. Calling is Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 US Hwy 24 West, Ft. Wayne, IN 46814. Memorials may be made to The Ft. Wayne Rescue Mission or the Alzheimer's Association. He was a wise and gentle man of God and adored by his wife, children and others who had the great pleasure of knowing him.
