Trueman "Hoagie" Richard Hoagland, 86, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, Jan 18, 2012, at home. Born in Adams County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Beatrice (Whittenbarger) Hoagland. He was a member of Sherman Street Church of God and then attended First Church of the Nazarene. The Navy Veteran retired from Rea Magnet Wire in 1986 and was a member of the American Legion 47.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha Nell (Young) Hoagland; sons and daughters in law, Rick and Linda of Fort Wayne and Barry and Cindy of Montpelier, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Beverly and Ray Wyatt of Auburn; brother and sister in law, Leroy and Ruth of Monroe, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Hoagland; brother, Kermit Hoagland; and sisters, Geraldine and Artilla Hoagland.
Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Pastor Richard Shievely, Sr. and Rev. Al Black will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial are to First Church of the Nazarene or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
