Velma Mae Facks, 90, formerly of Leo-Cedarville area and Spring Hill, Florida, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Ossian, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha Bushee. She graduated from Ossian High School. She worked several years as a cashier & clerk for Grabill HW1 Hardware and will be fondly remembered as the "Paint" Lady. She was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Grabill.
One of Velma''s favorite hobbies was counted cross stitch and her artistic talent was demonstrated with each picture that she completed. She spent the last few years with her daughter''s family in Spring Hill enjoying the warm Florida sunshine and time with family. Her poodle Charlie was never far from her side.
She is survived by her son: Brett William Facks of Centreville, VA; daughter: Rebecca (LeRoy) Dernulc of Spring Hill, FL; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Lengacher, Rachel Cook, Renee (James) Besse and Brandon Facks; and 7 great grandchildren, Grace and Mary Lengacher, Kyle Stuersel, Lukias Cook, Tristan and Nicholas Trucott and Emma Besse; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Facks, on June 24, 1992; and a sister and brother in law, Helen and Norman Gresley.
Celebration of Velma''s life is 1 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hernando County YMCA or American Cancer Society.
