Vern "Bud" Jay Christlieb, 93 died Monday October 29, 2018.  He was born October 18, 1925 in Avilla, Indiana to the late Curtis and Gladys Christlieb. On June 27, 1953 he married, Barbara May (Mowery) Christlieb. Together they celebrated over 50 years of marriage.  Vern over the years worked for Pet Milk 12 years, Old Fort Supply 23 years, Lassus Brothers, 9 years.  He was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Vern enjoyed playing for Trinity in the Lutheran Dartball League for over 50 years.  His passions were the Cubs, Purdue Basketball, NASCAR, and a Pacer's fan.

Surviving are his children, Scott (Julie) Christlieb and Kelle (Kevin Kavanaugh) Graham; daughter-in-law, Robin Christlieb; 9 grandchildren, Dan (Heather), Marcus (Lisa), Eric (Emilee), Christie, Jenny, David, Dillion, Jami (Ben), Jeremy (Stephanie); 12 great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Wilma Sills.


Vern was preceded in death by  his wife, Barbara May (Mowery) Christlieb, in 2004; two children, Gary Christlieb and Peggy Roe; and two sisters, Lois Smith and Vera Archbold.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., with viewing one hour prior to service.  Pastor Steve Voelker will be officiating.  There is also viewing Friday, November 2, 2018 at the funeral home from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Preferred memorials are to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
