Violet May (Saylor) Bellis, 77, died, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Renaissance Village. Born July 11, 1938, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter to the late, William Joshua "Jot" and May E (Swihart) Saylor. She worked for Dale''s Drive In, in her youth and retired from Kroger Distribution Center after 34 years of service.
She loved to crochet and do ceramics. Her real passion was involving herself in doing Genealogy. She pursued this hobby on her late husband''s side as well as her own. A few years ago she was encouraged by her cousin, Jim Porter, to write her biography. (She did not finish her book.)
She is survived by two brothers, Roy (Carolyn) Saylor and Clarence (Fay) Saylor both of Fort Wayne; and 41 nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Raymond "Bob" Bellis, on December 28, 2002; sister, Margaret "Joan" Leslie; brother and sister in law, Donald "Don" and Frances "Joan" Bellis.
Funeral Service is 10 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the funeral home. She will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Anthony Wayne First Church of God or Renaissance Village Activity Department.
