Virginia I. Arlic, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday April 30, 2013 at Parkview Hospital. She was born November 6, 1921 in Ft. Wayne to the late Bacil and Ethel Downend. She attended Northside High School. Virginia worked as a cook in Parkviews South Unit for 15 years retiring in 1987. She was a former member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Parkview Ambassadors. Virginia loved animals especially dogs, and traveling with her family.
Surviving are her children, Sharon (Pete) Jump, Diana M. Haifley, Alfred A. (Diana) Arlic II, Teresa M. (Mike Gargano) Blazius and Tina L. Barr, 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter Joan S. White, 1 brother, Glen Downend, 1 sister Margaret Barth and 2 grandsons, Christopher L. Haifley, Aaron A. Arlic, 1 great-grandson Weston D. Thompson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 4, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 4916 Trier Rd. with calling 1 hour prior to mass. There will also be calling Friday 5-8 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control or S.P.C.A. Pet Shelter and Adoption Center.
