Virginia Ann Harwood, 89, died on Friday, May 22, 2015. Born in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of, the late Warren and Ruth Harwood. Virginia graduated from IU with a Bachelors and then went on to Purdue for her Doctorate. She was instrumental in creating nursing programs in Ohio and Kentucky, teaching at the Parkview Nursing Program, working with the American Red Cross, finally retiring from the Marion VA. She was an active volunteer around the Fort Wayne area; at the Civic Theater and Botanical Gardens just to name a couple. Virginia was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Rozanne (Paul) Augsburger of Fort Wayne, Vicki (Ed) Anderson of Bonita Springs, Florida, Carol (Roger) Mann of Castle Rock, Colorado and Karen (and the late, Dean) Albaugh of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjory Harwood.

Funeral Service is 1 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. Michael''s Lutheran Church, 2131 Getz Road, with calling two hours prior to service. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to St. Michael's Lutheran Church.
