Virginia "Jinny" Ruth Cocherille, 91, passed Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Hospice Home. Born in Culver, she was a daughter to the late Cloyde Burton Miller and Leota (Clinkingbeard) Miller. Jinny was the first female broker in Fort Wayne. She retired from Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis. She appeared in local plays and musicals with her late husband, Robert E. Cocherille, in the 1980s. She was an accomplished, award winning artist, specializing in water color painting and collage compositions. Her art awards included blue ribbons at Allen County and Indiana State Fairs. She volunteered for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and at Children''s Hope Hospital. She served as volunteer tutor with the Fort Wayne Community Schools Study Connection for 5 years. Jinny was active in the social and fund raising programs for her church Peace United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia (Sam) Palmitier of Westminster, California, Denise (James) Geller of Fort Wayne, Darlene (David) Moorehead of Muncie, and Colleen Wade of Meridian, Idaho; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey, O.D., Melanie (Kurt) Ives, Ben (Linda) Moorehead, M.D., Jimmy (Michelle) Geller, Eileen Geller, Charles (Kristin) Geller, Virginia (Eric Clark) Wade, Iris (Mitchell) Udell, Mark Cooper and Kenyon (Morgan) Tudor ; and 9 great grandchildren, David, Ian, Allan, Allison, Ella, Evan, Isabella, Ellie and Gavin.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Culver, Merle, Harold "Duke" and Glenn Miller; and a sister, Faye Shriver.
Funeral Service is Noon, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Peace United Church of Christ, 9123 Aboite Center Rd., with calling one hour prior. Officiating will be Pastor Christen Pettit Miller. Calling is also 4-7 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Hospice Home, Cancer Services of NE Indiana or the Church.
