Virginia A. “Vickie” Rubalcada, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Mercedes, Texas, she was the daughter of Jose Ambriz and Maria Garcia. Vickie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved sipping margaritas, listening to music, dancing, tending to flowers, playing cards, and was a woman of deep faith who found comfort in prayer.

She is lovingly remembered by her nine children: Rita Zuniga, Raul (Mary) Rubalcada, Ruth Doan, Jose (Jenny) Rubalcada, Roy (Irene) Rubalcada, Janie (Juan) Garcia, Robert Rubalcada, Paula (Jose) Garcia, and Michael (fiance Shannon Leigh) Rubalcada; 62 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro; her parents; three children, Frances Hornsby, Pete Jr., and Rosie Rodriguez and several siblings.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Covington Memorial Gardens. Burial will immediately follow the service.
