Wayne Allen Springer, 82, passed peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2018 surrounded by family.  Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Louis and Mathilde Springer.  He retired from Lincoln Life in 1991 as a computer operator after 38 years of service.  Wayne was the neighborhood handy man; he loved wood working and refinishing.  He was a former neighborhood Association President.  He was an avid golfer and bowler. Wayne was a man of God; he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the choir and Lutheran Men of Song.  He also was a Property Chairman of the church.

He is survived by devoted wife of 62 years, Dorothy Ann (Mertens) Springer; daughter and son in law, Kathleen and William Graney; sisters, Marcella Kronmiller, Lavera Hitzemann and Doris Sowers.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Frederick and Edmund Springer; and sister, Katherine Greene; and of course his furry friend, Max.

Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior.  Officiating will be Rev. Steven Voelker. Calling is also 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to Lutheran Ministries Media, Inc., 5 Martin Luther Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825.
