Wendell William Howard Hartman, 89, passed away on August 12, 2024. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on February 3, 1935, a son of the late Howard and Helen Hartman. Wendell worked for 25 years at Eckrich and went on to retire from Fort Wayne Metals. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling, loved gardening and was an outdoorsman. He was a model airplane enthusiast and a member of the Decatur Eagles Flying Club.  He loved spending time with his family and cherished them dearly.

Surviving are his daughter, Wendy (Philip) Godfrey; grandchildren, Jason Godfrey and Melissa Godfrey.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 68 years, Florence "Pat" Hartman; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2024 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
