IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willard Horace
Scott
January 16, 1927 – January 22, 2022
Willard "Bud" H. Scott, 95, of Ft. Wayne passed away Jan. 22. He was born Jan. 16, 1927 in Ft. Wayne to the late Horace and Harriet Scott. He lived in Fort Wayne his entire life.
Bud was married to his wife Peggy (Schlose) for 65 years before her passing in 2019. Together they raised two children, Michael and Michele. He was employed by Seyfert Foods for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989. After retirement, he helped with transporting cars for Kelley Auto amongst other local dealerships. One of Bud's favorite pastimes was fishing, including ice fishing. The family spent several summer vacations in Otter Tail and Backus, Minnesota, where they rented cabins and fished. Bud and Peggy had a camper at Atwood Shores in Wolcottville for several years, then a trailer on Silver Lake in Michigan, where he enjoyed fishing and simply relaxing. He also liked to follow Detroit Tigers baseball and IU basketball in his spare time. Bud enjoyed the work his daughter, Michele, did both as a groomer and with Greyhound adoptions. He was a frequent visitor at the grooming salon when he had his Seyfert's route in Waynedale. He enjoyed visits with her dogs and occasionally attending some Greyhound events.
Bud was a long-time member of Simpson United Methodist Church where he was head usher for several years. In later years, he was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church. Bud loved the Lord and stated frequently, "I'm ready to go when the good Lord says it's time!" He missed his wife, Peggy, immensely after her death in 2019, as well as his son, Mike, in 2012. He spoke frequently in recent months of being ready to see them again.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Michele Scott of Fort Wayne; Godchildren, William Skaros, Natasha Berning, and Andrew Skaros, sister-in-law Irene Schlose of Tipp City, Ohio, along with several nieces and nephews and their families, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bud was preceded in death by his son, Michael; siblings, Mary Jane Felger and twin brother, William Scott; brothers-in-law William Schlose, Robert Schlose, and Forest Felger; sister-in-law Betty Scott; niece Ruth White; and nephew David Scott. Visitation will be from 10am-1pm Friday, Jan. 28 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, Ft. Wayne, with service to follow at 1pm.
Family requests masks be worn throughout the visitation and service.
