William Perry Barnes, 85, of Auburn and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed peacefully Monday, December 10, 2012 at home. Born in Norwich, Ohio, he was the son of the late Forest Wiley Barnes and Sadie Mae (nee, Conkle) Barnes. He served his country in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles, Moose and Navy Club/ He was a retired Electrician from N.G. Gilbert Corporation after 31 years of service.

He is survived by his companion of 8 years, Rosemary Wall of Auburn; brother, Donald Barnes; sister, Anna Mae Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth A. "Libby" Barnes, in 2003; and a brother, Rollin Barnes.

Funeral Service is 2 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorial are to the American Legion.
