William Farmer, Jr., 87, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Parkview Hospital. Born in Corbin, Kentucky, he was the son to the late William and Mary Farmer. He attended Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Waynedale. He was an avid fisherman, card player and enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was a member of the Eagles 248, American Legion 47, Travelers Protective Assoc., and S.W. Conservation Club. He retired from International Harvester after 40 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Wayne) Ross of Fort Wayne; brother, Rossie Farmer; and sister, Francis Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia "Jo" Farmer in 2006; brothers, Homer and George Farmer; sisters, Annamae Bennett and Canava Kurtycz.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 6-8 Tuesday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road. Memorials are to the church.
