Obituary

William "Bill" Starn, 78, of Fort Wayne was called home to Jesus October 13.  He was at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 24, 1943 in Catawba, West Virginia to the late Woodrow and Anna (Frederick) Starn.

Bill was a proud US Air Force Veteran who entered into the military just a few weeks after graduating from high school in 1962.  He met his wife of 59 years, Karen (Thompson), at a drive-in movie theater and it was love at first sight.  Together they raised 3 wonderful boys.  Bill owned his own HVAC company, Starn Heating and Air Conditioning.  He is a long-time member of Living Faith Missionary Church in Yoder.  Bill was known as Mr. Fix-it and enjoyed gardening and watching the animals in the yard.  He was a ham radio operator; and built and flew remote control airplanes.  In the evenings when the family was young, Bill would serenade them, singing and playing guitar.  Bill saw that Karen was a talented artist and when the kids were all in school, he sent her to art school.  Above all, he was a family man; he loved his family fiercely and only wanted the best for all of them.  Spending time with them was what he loved most.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bill will be fondly remembered by his wife, Karen; children, William Allen (Mark Hasse) Starn, Christopher Scott (Elizabeth) Starn, and Jeffrey Lee (Traci) Starn; grandchildren, Jessie (Zach), Spencer, Caleb, Elizabeth, and Abigail; great grandchildren, Keegan and Kaiden; siblings, Jack, Judy, Bob and Gary; and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Tommie, Donald, and John.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm - 7:00pm Friday, October 15 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.  There will be a short visitation Saturday, October 16 from 9:00am - 10:00 prior to service at 10:00am, also at Covington Memorial.
