Obituary

Wilmer Carl Dammeyer, 94, passed peacefully Thursday, May 21, 2020 with his daughters by his side.  Born in Fort Wayne in 1925, he was son to the late William and Clara (Lange) Dammeyer.  Wilmer proudly served his country in the Army as part of Germany's World War II occupation forces where he met and married his beautiful wife. He owned a milk hauling business for many years servicing local farmers, and after selling it, was employed with Carsten's Oil Company, Fort Wayne.

Wilmer is survived by daughters, Linda (William) Furge, Bernice (Lawrence) Ulrich, Darlene Furge and Sandra Hyndman; 8 grandchildren and a host of beloved great grandchildren.

Wilmer is remembered by most walking hand in hand with his wife of 65 years, Irmgard Veronika (Seger) Dammeyer, who preceded him in death in 2014. Also preceding him in death were siblings, Elmer Dammeyer and Lorene Jones; son in law, Steve Hyndman.

Wilmer is fondly remembered by all for his quiet nature, ready smile, quick wit, and especially his mischievous wink. He affected many lives with his humble and kind nature. Private services will be held for the immediate family with military honors.  He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Condolences and memories can be shared with family through his guestbook at https://www.covingtonmemorial. com/obituary/wilmer-dammeyer
