Yvonne K. Johnson, affectionately known as Bonnie, grandma, or Gigi Yvonne  was born on September 27, 1937 to Carl and Clara Matson in Princeton, IL, and lived most of her childhood in Kasbeer, IL.

Bonnie met Joe Johnson during a fun night at Princeton Roller Rink. That spark in 1953 ignited their marriage full of love, respect, and admiration for over 67 years. You can literally say their lifelong friendship started with a bang since they were involved in a fender bender during their very first date. Then on January 1, 1954, Joe and Bonnie were married in Kasbeer, IL.

She worked at Prairie View Nursing Home in Princeton, IL as well as Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN, before moving on to the Internal Medicine Associates Medical group where she worked as a bookkeeper up until her retirement in January of 2000. Bonnie was also a proud member in good standing with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Clara, and Carl Matson, two brothers, Delbert and Ivan, two sisters, Gladys and Vera and daughter Lou Ann.

Bonnie was a woman of strength and a fierce follower of Christ, who diligently stood in the gap in prayer for her family every day.

To carry on her memory and living legacy are her husband, Joe, four children, Rhonda Voorhies, Timothy Johnson, Brenda (Dan) Crook, and Linda (Jireh) Gibson. Along with 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service is Friday, July, 2, 2021 1:00 p.m.  At Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, she will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens.
